Apply for a Scholarship

Every semester, West Coast Grooming Academy awards a President’s Scholarship to 2 worthy individuals. The scholarship can be worth up to $6,250 to apply towards any Dog Groomer Certification Course, or up to $2,500 to apply towards any Cat Groomer Certification Course. Scholarships and their amount are awarded based on a variety of factors such as previous Academic achievements, work experience, enthusiasm and merit. All applicants are encouraged to give their best effort when applying for a scholarship, as this is the only chance the applicant will have to impress the scholarship committee. If a scholarship is not awarded, applicants are welcome to re-apply next semester.

Minimum Requirements for All Applicants:

  • 18+ Years Old
  • High School or College Diploma, GED or passing score on school entrance exam.

TYPES OF AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS

Christopher Jackson Future Entrepreneur Scholarship
This scholarship is for women and minorities who love animals and want to make a difference in their lives. If you see yourself as a leader and desire to open your own business or work as a salon manager in your grooming career, this scholarship is for you! Award recipients will receive a tuition scholarship of up to $6,250, and two mentorship consultations with founder and CEO Christopher Jackson.

Jessica Johnson Women’s EmPAWerment Scholarship
This scholarship is for any female-identifying individual with a passionate heart for helping animals. If you have 2+ years of experience working with animals OR any formal education, degrees or scholarships in an animal science, veterinary or medical (human) related program, this scholarship is for you! Award recipients will receive a tuition scholarship of up to $6,250 off Dog Grooming Courses and up to $2,500 off Cat Grooming Courses for students who want to work with both Dogs and Cats. Recipients will also be invited to work personally with Ms. Johnson once a month throughout their class at a participating animal shelter to work with shelter animals and receive one-on-one mentorship.

Rainbow of Hope Award
This scholarship is for any member of the LGBTQIA+ community who want to work with animals as a professional pet groomer and who enjoy giving back to their community either through volunteer work, or who commit to participating in any WCGA outreach event after enrollment. Award recipients will receive a tuition scholarship of up to $6,250 off Dog Groomer Certification Courses, and 2 free Continuing Education credits to apply towards maintaining their certification after graduation.

Cindy’s Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship is for any individual with physical, mental or emotional challenges that they have overcome and are ready to start a new, fulfilling career path. This can include the loss of a loved one or pet, physical disabilities, mental or emotional struggles, etc. Award recipients will receive a tuition scholarship of up to $6,250 off Dog Groomer Certification Courses, and a free Pet First Aid & CPR course, which may also be applied towards maintaining their certification after graduation.

Grooming to Grow Scholarship
This scholarship is for any individual who may be facing financial struggles but still desire to pursue their grooming education at WCGA and are able to commit to participating in any two (2) WCGA outreach events after enrollment. Award recipients will receive a tuition scholarship of up to $6,250 off Dog Groomer Certification Courses, and 1 free Bather Tool Kit ($463 value) to start their grooming career off on the right paw.

Leaders in Animal Care Scholarship
This scholarship is for any individual with 1+ year of prior experience working with animals. This can apply to dog trainers, dog daycare attendants, dog walkers, pet sitters, etc. Award recipients will receive a tuition scholarship of up to $6,250 off Certified Dog Groomer Courses. Recipients will also be invited to work personally with Ms. Johnson once a month throughout their class at a participating animal shelter to work with shelter animals and receive one-on-one mentorship.
