About the Course

LOCATION: Fur Town Melrose- 7574 Melrose Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90046

DAYS: Wednesdays & Thursdays, from 10am-5:30pm

START DATES: March 1st, 2023, June 14th, 2023 and September 27th, 2023.

DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed for individuals who have a minimum of 6 months of grooming experience either a bather or a groomer, and who are interested in getting their certification. It combines both our Introduction to Dog Grooming Hybrid Course and our Dog Grooming Certification Course, bypassing the bathing portion of the class. 

This course is both hands-on and online. Part 1 is online and covers important topics necessary for pursuing a career in grooming, including tools and tool maintenance, canine anatomy, health, breed history and styles, and foundational techniques for the groomer. Part 2 includes 8 week class of fully hands-on learning where you will learn how to groom professionally from the industry’s top groomers while working with dogs of a wide variety of breeds and temperaments. 

Pre-Requisite: 6 months hands-on grooming/bathing experience. All applicants should also have prior experience doing the following services:

  • Bathing
  • Drying
  • Anal Gland Expression
  • Ear Cleaning
  • Ear Hair Removal
  • Teeth Brushing
  • Brushing & Combing
  • De-Matting
  • Paw Pad Shaving
  • Sanitary Trimming
  • Nail Trimming and/or Grinding.

Students who are not able to meet WCGA’s standards for these items may require extra days of hands-on training to catch up, which can be discussed and scheduled with your Instructor on the first day of class. The daily rate for additional days of hands-on training is $150 per day.

Step 2: Fill out your Enrollment Agreements.

Step 3: Submit your ID and either GED, High School Diploma or Transcripts (if you don’t have these available, please call us to enroll).

Step 4: Pay for your Class Tuition as follows:
Registration Fee: $250
State Tuition Recovery Fund Fee: $12.50
Tuition Deposit: $1,200 OR
Full Tuition: $5,250
TOTAL COST: $5,512.50

Step 6: Order Your Tool Kit (Optional)
Cost: ranges from $750-$1,050 + tax)

Then you are all done! A counselor will touch base with you once your enrollment is complete to answer any questions you may have.
